Why Security Software is Not Full Proof

Internet Security TipsIt’s a known fact that the men in white can’t keep up with the onslaught of attacks by hackers and cyber criminals. If you think you have the tools to defend against the best offensive line for attacks, think again. There are malicious websites and zero-day (or zero-hour or day zero) attacks or threats. A zero-day is a computer threat that tries to exploit computer application vulnerabilities that are unknown by security vendors.

We are all vulnerable, in fact, one out of four computers are infected with either an exploit waiting for instructions to launch an attack from its botnet, or you downloaded freeware software full of malware and viruses.

There are many people who take too many risks, because they’re relying on their security programs to protect and defend everything.

There’s no absolute program that can defend and protect you from the evils of the digital onslaught. You may think you have what it takes to safe guard against risks and vulnerabilities, but you do not, sorry. And not even the top security firms can make that guarantee.

How do we protect yourself from the evils of the underground that the internet shares up like a social apocalypse? We can and here’s how.

  • Stop clicking on every link from shares
  • Stop peer-to-peer file sharing
  • Stop opening attachments in emails
  • Stop downloading freeware
  • Download the WOT add-on: It shows you which websites you can trust for safe surfing, shopping and searching on the web.
  • If it’s too good to be true, it is more than likely a scam

You can search, download and browse with all the security tools in your arsenal, but it’s the end user or (EU) who is the best defense against cyber crimes, vulnerabilities and risks.

Wake up, and be the front line of security defense. You make the difference and not your security program.

  1. Way to tell it like it is Frank. WOT has really helped me avoid some problems. It’s like an early warning system. I am still amazed at the energy people put into creating chaos, but my amazement won’t change anything. Only awareness can help and I appreciate your continued efforts to raise our awareness level.

I learned about WOT from you and I am using it now. It is really great!

Great article you have here. It is true that it all finally falls down to oneself. Because no matter how secure your system is, if you yourself is not cautious, then what good is your system protection. Thanks for this enlightening article.
