Web of Trust Launches New Version

Web of Trust launches new version of the popular browser security tool to fit Web surfing habits.

Web of Trust launches a new version of the WOT safe surfing add-on with customizable protection. Experienced Web users who prefer “Light” protection get a simple warning if they surf to a page with a poor reputation, whereas selecting “Maximum Safety” will prevent a risky page from loading. Parents with young children can choose the “Parental Control” mode which blocks access to sites that contain pornography or other adult content.

WOT provides four convenient one-click protection options that can be changed instantly depending on the situation:

  • “Light” protection suits experienced Web users
  • “Basic” protection guides the user by giving warnings
  • “Maximum Safety” stops dangerous Web sites from loading
  • “Parental Control” blocks access to Web sites with a poor child safety rating and no rating at all

“Four million Internet surfers worldwide trust WOT to protect them when they search and shop on the Internet. People need choices that fit their web surfing habits. With WOT’s new one-click protection options, we provide personalized safe surfing,” said CEO Esa Suurio.

Free Web safety tool provides protection against online threats

Web of Trust offers Internet users preventive protection against Web-based attacks, online scams, identify theft, and unreliable shopping sites. The WOT security add-on provides safety ratings to search results when using Google, Yahoo!, Digg and other popular sites, helping users protect their computers and personal information. Web site ratings are continuously updated by the user community and from numerous trusted sources, such as phishing site listings. The free Internet security add-on works with Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers and can be downloaded at http://www.mywot.com.

    Hi Frank,
I’ll be posting probably tomorrow but I like the ease of use and settings that this update has provided, especially when I decide to tiptoe into the unknown LOL.

Got caught up with Conficker today, so many users updating and patching last minute yesterday and today, although Conficker C is now live in Asia but no action as of yet.

    We wait and see!

    Hi Frank,

Came here from the WOT blog where I also left a comment for them. Just yesterday I was reading something from here for the first time. Nice site.

WOT is the best of the best hands down. I just wish we had green rings of trust to warn us about everything questionable in life.

Thank you, Frank, for the support you have given WOT. It’s people like you that have helped us build such a strong and dedicated community.

I like nukemdomis’s idea about the green rings of trust everywhere. I’ll bring it up in our next development meeting! Y’all be careful out there.

    Safe surfing,
    Deborah
