Visa Account Confirmation Phishing Scam
by Frank Jovine on 07/14/2010 in Scams & Hoaxes, Security
There’s an email that’s going around claiming that due to multiple failed attempts accessing your account, you must confirm account information within 48 hours or the account will be suspended indefinitely.
The email is a scam and not from Visa. This is a Phishing scam that’s only intended to steal personal information from recipients. Those who click on the link in the email will be taken to a bogus webpage that asks them to provide credit card details and other personal information via a fake form. All information entered into the form can be sold to other scammers and used for credit card fraud and identity theft.
You should delete this email immediately.

Great post. My mother got sucked into a phishing scam like this one. She is not an experienced internet user and she clicked on this email and filled out information. Then her identity was stolen. It took almost a year to resolve everything. I wish she read this article a long time ago! Thanks for the post here.
