Sex Lures in Twitter Followers

by on 06/19/2009 in Internet, Odd Stuff

I am not a prude, but I have noticed there are a lot of sexy profiles on Twitter. We all know Sex sells and it drives more interest than anything else on the internet. I have noticed that many of these sexy profiles are store fronts to drive traffic to their personal web pages where visitors get a portfolio of sexy photos.

The bait is rather amusing; the so called Twitter member reveals just enough to make any visitor, including myself, to click on the link they’re serving up. The real money maker is that if you want to see even more sexy and revealing photos, become a member for only $$ per month.

Here are a few tweets from these sexy profiles;

sexy-profile3 Maybe I should go live and show the world how sexy I look when I wake up.
sexy-profile1 I be doing everyone I can and the fun ones lots and lots of times!!!!
sexy-profile2 hey what a exhausting clubbin trip check out my pics here careful im nsfw sexy.
sexy-profile4 Hello sexy people. I am feeling %^&*#

I think you get the point. Many of these Twitter profiles do have a decent following, go figure, sex sells. I wonder how many of these accounts are posers? I am sure some of these sexy ladies are really men trying to lure in potential customers.

    I will have to change “Twitter + Sex = Money” to “Anything + Sex = Money”. Think about it… Once it was IRC, now it’s twitter and tomorrow will be tomorrow’s mean of communication.

      I remember the day of IRC. That brings back memories!

    You’ve got to be pretty gullible if you get taken in by stuff like this. It seems to be a pretty popular tactic with some. I am currently getting lots of friend requests from some blogging community from lots of petite Asian women :S

      There’s a sucker born everyday. This is how hackers make a living.

      Thank you!

    I guess you are right. These people tend to work on the idea that if you throw enough droppings, some sticks. I have heard of cases when people got burnt by those Nigerian email crooks.

    Some of them seem to be quite intelligent though. A while back I subscribed to the XML-dev mailing list, which unfortunantly doesn’t obfuscate emails. The first bit of spam I got through was from a beautiful young Russian girl from Siberia. She was looking for a “kind man in the IT industry to befriend her” and help her move to the west. She went on to say she is “…a free bird now, I don’t have a boyfriend and I’m open to everything!!!”. She was probably most open to rifiling through my bank account.

    I remember thinking that there is probably not much of a better place for that kind of thing than an XML mailing list :D Got 3 emails from her – or rather her mafioso fabricators :P

    Frank, it really piss me off to have such followers. It is alsoa time-waist to check all of my followers to remove such stinky stuff. On the other hand, Maybe they aren’t men only as you said but also spammers and spreading virus because they think if you saw thier ‘sexy profile’ you’ll crush on clicking their link @ the bio.

    That said, it’s strange that I worte a personal review for Twitter over my blog entitled “Twitter: To Tweet or not to Tweet” and inviting you to share opinion over their.
