New Online Privacy Tool Launched
by Frank Jovine on 12/03/2009 in Online Security Tools, Security
A new site has launched and is dedicated to improving online privacy. The site – Takebackyourprivacy.org has a Privacy Complaint Tool bookmarklet that you can place on your browser’s bookmarks toolbar.
The tool will be used if you feel a site has violated your privacy. The complaint will first go to the CDT, which will gather and send them on to the FTC.
About the Privacy Complaint Tool
CDT’s Privacy Complaint Tool makes it easy for you to file a consumer privacy complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) — and to tell your friends so that they can be wary of that company or file their own complaints.
When you discover a Web site, an application or another product or service that you believe is violating your privacy, click on the bookmarklet. Fill out the form that opens in a new window and choose to file your complaint with the FTC or to share it with friends via Twitter, Facebook, Digg, or email.
To install the tool, simply drag the button below to the Bookmarks Toolbar in your browser. Whenever you come across a site you feel does not have adequate privacy protections, simply click the bookmark and the tool will pop up.

I am a searching fool, but it pays to be proactive and aware of the badness about the internet.
