Music downloads for Rock Band Wii

Rumor or not, this is a great move for Nintendo to compete against Xbox 360 and Sony PS3. This news hasn’t been confirmed, but I do believe an announcement will come soon.

USA Today reported that Wii version of Rock Band 2 will boast the “same online functionality” as the PS3 and 360 versions, including music downloads.
MTV Games also has confirmed that the upcoming Nintendo Wii version of Rock Band 2 will offer the same online functionality — i.e. song downloads and Internet multiplayer modes — as the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 versions,” says the paper report.
This may sound suspect to anyone aware of the limited internal storage within Wii (just 512MB), which is the reason why Wii games usually lack any form of substantial DLC support.
It could just be a mistake - just yesterday Sony came out to correct a Reuters report that mistakenly claimed LittleBigPlanet would be made available as a download via PSN.
While it would be great news for Wii fans if true, we’ve contacted EA and will remain skeptical until we receive official word.
