Icahn and Ballmer Bullying Yang and Yahoo’s board

Carl Icahn the Activist investor and Microsoft are now bullying their way to toss Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang and the company’s board of directors.

Icahn says in a letter that he has been chatting up Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer along with other key executives about how the two companies can “do a transaction together.” In the letter, Icahn claims that Ballmer “made it clear to me that if a new board was elected, he would be interested in discussing a major transaction with Yahoo.”

For its part Microsoft confirms Icahn’s account and says in a statement that “it would be premature to discuss at this time important details such as the price or other terms of a possible transaction.”

I am not a fan of Carl Icahn or his bullying tactics, and I hope the shoe is on the other foot one day. Icahn you need to find better things to do than to try to marry these two companies. The shareholders need to stand up to this kind of business tactic.

I strongly believe that Yahoo has more muscle than Microsoft, and this is why in the eyes of Ballmer this deal is so sweet. The time this deal every happens Icahn will have left this earth, lets hope so. Let’s not be too shy about this Icahn!

What are your thoughts about how Icahn and Ballmer are approaching this?
