How to Access MySpace from School

by on 12/19/2008 in Internet, Tech

I have answer this question a lot of times in Yahoo Ask&Answer under the Computers & Internet category. Keep in mind that we don’t promote violating access rights set by network administrators.

You can gain access to MySpace by using an anonymous proxy website to link outside of the network that is blocking MySpace. Most likely the server administrator is blocking MySpace by domain, which then blocks any IP address coming from MySpace.

A proxy website will connect to any website using a different IP address, which allows you to step around the server blocking MySpace. The network will not recognize the domain or proxy IP, thus allowing you to get to any site you want. Here is a list of some sites to get you started.

http://unblockmyspace.com/

http://www.unblockmyspace.org/

http://unblockmyspace.us/

http://www.fsurf.com/

http://www.blockfilter.com/

https://proxify.com/

https://proxify.us/

https://proxify.biz/

A more advanced technique is to reconfigure the browser. On some school computers these rights have been locked, so it is easier to have your own laptop. If you can connect with wireless even better, but if not, just unplug the Ethernet line from your school computer and reconnect into your laptop.

Proxy Settings in Firefox

In Firefox, if you want to configure your browser to connect directly through a proxy, here are the steps in the menus to get to the proxy settings. Tools–>Options–>Advanced(Tab)–>Network(Tab) under connections section, click on settings.

You will need to enter the details provided from a proxy server. You can find a list of anonymous proxy servers by searching for, “Proxy Server” in Google.

You should try using tinyurl and submit the proxy site so that the url is masked.
