The Google toolbar update is underway! The update started early this morning here in the USA and it should continue for the next 24 to 48 hours. There are many bloggers that keep a close watch on their Google PageRank and only wish for one thing, and that is an increase on their homepage and post pages.
It’s important to remember that the toolbar is “not an accurate indicator of how Google ranks or values a site,” as Loren Baker notes at Search Engine Journal. It is still a major factor.
About Google PageRank?
Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. Google looks at more than just the volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages “important”.
