Google Enters The Living Room

by on 06/28/2008 in Internet, Software

It should be called Google Living Room, but will let Google have that say. Google has entered in the PC to TV arena with its Google Media Server.

The Windows software works in conjunction with Google’s desktop search application – Google Desktop – to locate various media (photos, music and video) stored on your PC and make it available for streaming over a home network to any UPnP compatible or DLNA ‘certified’ device, such as a PlayStation 3.

UPnP server solutions already exist for Windows (Sorry Mac users, you are left out once again). Hopefully Google will find a way to offer this for the Mac users.

I am not sure what Google is up to, but maybe they’re testing the waters to enter into another market.

Google is always trying to stay ahead of the competition, that’s why they’re a power house.

I’ve always said, “Google is the Wal-Mart of the Internet!”

Google doing a Microsoft? Probably with a better and different business strategy, they should fare well, not farewell. :-)

hmm.. at first I never knew Google have go this far.
the only application I use over here, is Picasa photo-manager. Which is a very impressing one, if I may say.

And now, they’re going for another market, it seems..
I like the way they do things out there.
