Find Trusted Backlinks when Commenting
Posted 01.10.2009 by Frank J in Internet, SEO,
I have read so much about the effectiveness of commenting on other blogs within your niche to establish a few things;
- Backlinks that are do-follow
- Building reputation
- Creating a fan following
These are all good and there’s just that little extra that can build more trust with Google if you target blogs that are (.edu and .gov). Google loves these sites as they are highly trusted. It’s some what challenging to find a blog with one of these extensions that are do-follow blogs, but like anything else, you have to dig to get to the goods.
It’s important that you leave quality comments on something within your niche that you know well. Put that extra effort in commenting by providing examples and or references, it shows you are passionate about the subject matter.
To find government or educational blogs use the search string below in Google.
inurl:blogs +(gov|edu)

If you have other ideas please share them with us.
Happy commenting!

Good info. I did find an .edu blog that I posted a nice long comment on that was highly relevant to my niche. The link was a no follow, but I still think it really helped me in the search engines. My niche is pretty competitive, so it is very hard to rank for the best keywords. But I did start showing up on Google, Yahoo, and Live for some decent words. And I had many first page rankings. So I agree with you; links from the .gov and .edu sites are worth a little work.

Good luck with it, and I do this at least once a week and try to get at least one .edu and one .gov linking back to this site.

Awesome! Do this once a week with the goal of getting one quality link from either a .edu or .gov site.
In time you will build a lot of trust with Google.

Most of these domains do not pass link juice so you would be lucky if you find few that do pass PagaRank.

Kashif,
It’s a challenge finding do-follow blogs that are .edu or .gov, but I found a few and I am still hunting down more.

That is very useful information about gaining do follow links.

If you apply it, you will get good results.

I’m inclined to agree with Kashif on this one. However, in the era of ‘hope and change’
, one can always remain “hopeful” that G will “change” some of its methodology for judging pr.
Nevertheless, it is a good linkbait. Thanks Frank, I’ll be checking your blog archives for other fun and useful reads.

It is true that most of the website won’t pass the juice to your website. But it is a good practice to try your luck
