Facebook Dislike Button Scam

Facebook users beware of the fake Facebook “dislike” button! We have confirmed there is in fact a fake “Dislike” button circulating on Facebook. The scammers are using this as bait to mimic the real “Dislike” button that was created by FaceMod.

There are messages being posted on Facebook claiming that users can download and install the “Dislike Button” on their Facebook account.

This is a scam which is baiting Facebook users to spam their friends, install an intrusive toolbar, fill out scam surveys, and provide personal information in order to install the “Dislike Button” for their Facebook account.

Once a user clicks the “Like” button, users are then invited to “Share” the page with their Facebook friends.

After a user clicks on the “Like” button they are taken to a non-Facebook page where they are instructed to click one of several links as a “Security Check”:

Dislike Button

These links lead to dangerous websites that are collecting users personal information and offering users to download and install an intrusive and annoying toolbar for their browsers.

Facebook users should be wary of any posts offering a “Dislike Button”, even if the message claims that the button is “official”. At this time, there is no official dislike button offered by Facebook.

The site you referenced has nothing to do with the subject matter. Are you spamming?

adding a ‘real’ dislike button to a element or piece of content is actually a more transparent way to demonstrate actual social appeal of said content. For example, if you have 200 photos on your photography website and they all have both like and dislike options, when you look at your FB social graph you should be able to see a more accurate assessment of your content which is both appealing and not appealing. Having one without the other is begging the question and accepting only half of the answer…
FB needs to make an official dislike button..
