Effective Ways to Increase Web Traffic
by Frank Jovine on 06/06/2008 in Social Networking
We all crave visits to our web sites, but it doesn’t come easy. It’s a long journey to successfully establish a loyal fan base that frequents your web site or blog. You should always be creative, original and interesting. You should write about what you know well, but also change it up a little.
How to increase your web traffic in less than 8 weeks
1. Publish a one to two new blogs daily. Search Engine crawlers feed on new content.
2. Join a social network. I recommend no more than two or you will lose focus by spreading yourself to thin. Join StumbleUpon and Delicious.
3. Join Entrecard.com and drop 300 cards per day, each day for 8 weeks. Entrecard is a great way to build relationships with other members in the Entrecard forums.
4. Have someone discover your new published blog by Stumbling, reviewing and tagging it accordingly. The key here is to build your fan base on SU. StumbleUpon will provide you a ton of backlinks that will improve your Google PageRank.
5. Comment, comment and more comments. You should take the time and read blogs daily and post your comments. I would recommend leaving at least 6 to 10 per day. You will start to establish a fan based from other blog owners.
6. Join a couple of popular forums based on your niche. If you write about marketing, find a marketing forum. You should post daily and make sure you include your blog url in your signature and profile.
It’s not easy! You need to dedicate yourself to this effort. You will begin to see results right away, and this will provide you the fuel to continue. It’s important to track your progress by using Google Analytics and StatPress, both are free.
Important:
If you’re using StumbleUpon be careful.
1. You don’t want to have the same people discovering your blog everyday.
2. Send messages to a select few through the StumbleUpon toolbar in your browser where it says “Send to”. Always reciprocate, always!
3. Provide your StumbleUpon friends the tags you want them to use, and ask them to be creative in their review. Don’t copy and paste!
That’s all, and please share your success stories with us.

It’s a good site for someone who is just starting out, once established than you need to explore other avenues.

Building traffic is hard, and I’m trying to do that with my new blog at the moment. I just started dropping 300 a day on Entrecard, and it seems to be helping so far.

cool points, but one point to take care on is relying to much on one social netowrk or service, cos if it goes down then you may have a trickle of visitors :p
