eBay Registration Suspension Scam

by on 03/16/2010 in Scams & Hoaxes, Security

If you receive an email stating your eBay account has been suspended, please delete this email! This email comes from eBey.com and not eBay.com. The email is intended to steal account holder information.

Here’s the email:

eBay email scam

The sender uses legitimate links to eBay’s privacy and user agreement. The problem with this email is the senders actual email address is not from eBay. It looks close to the real deal, but it’s a fake.

This is dreadful. The online scams are growing rapidly, one after another are messing our time and energy to check for its authenticity. I have been receiving some fraud emails from so-called local banks as well. In the newspaper report, the victims claimed they never once thought about re-checking the web addresses for who else may have their emails?.. sigh.. we need to enhance the awareness.

Yah, I’ve seen this done before. It’s annoying that people do this, but in the end there is always money to be made off of stealing people’s account info so we’ll continue to see more creative ways to do it.

Haven’t gotten that email but was on a pc that I hadn’t used before and did get a blip of a re-direction to enter my user name and password, it just looked wrong.. so I didn’t sign in. I can see if that happens again today..and forward you a screen shot.

It was not the standard sign in – had wayyyy to many questions!
