Convert EDB to PST & Migrate Exchange Mailbox to PST – Free Solution

Solutions to Convert Exchange EDB to PST file

Trick #2: Convert Exchange 2007/2010/2013 Mailbox to PST via Powershell Commands

The workaround is beneficial for those server users who are having good knowledge about PowerShell commands of Exchange. These commands are used to build up the scripting language on the .net framework. Well, follow below mentioned instructions to convert EDB to PST file format:

  • Execute following commands for adding the Snap-in within the PowerShell:

  • On your PC, make a new folder in which you will be saving resultant PST files, which will be generated after exporting files from EDB

  • For Exchange 2013 : Execute New-MailboxExportRequest command
  • For Exchange 2010 : Execute ExportMailboxRequests command
  • For Exchange 2007 : Execute Export Mailbox

Trick #3: Convert Exchange 2013 mailboxes to Outlook PST file via Exchange Admin Center

The last approach to export mailbox from EDB to PST is to use EAC of the Exchange server. To accomplish the task via Admin center go through following set of instructions:

  • Make a Shared Folder in which you want to export mailboxes. Before making such folder, keep few essential points in your mind:
    • The folder should not be located in C: drive
    • Do not generate the folder where log files or the server database files exist
    • Make a script for clean-up in order to eliminate data in future
  • Click on Permission tab and then set the level to Shared and Security option
  • Go through following steps to Export Mailbox Permissions:
    • Use Organization Management to open EAC and then click on Permission
    • Click twice on the Recipient Management and from the top of Role click on Add
    • A Select a Role page will appear in front of you where you have to click on Mailbox Import Export >> Add >> OK
    • In the Roles section, click on Add option and then select Mailbox Import Export from the new page. Hit on Add >> OK
  • Till now, you have enables all the permissions required to perform the export operation. Now it’s time to follow below set of instruction for exporting EDB file to PST:
    • Launch Exchange Admin Center on your machine and select anyone of the listed mailboxes which you want to export
    • Right-click on the desired mailbox and choose Export to a PST file option. Hit on Browse button for selecting the mailbox
    • Use a syntax i.e., \\server\folder\ExportFile.pst to determine location of the exported mailboxes
    • Finally hit on Finish button, once the process gets successfully completed

Conclusion

The solutions provided above are quite complex and consumes a lot of time (even a day) for completion of the process. However, these workarounds require high technical knowledge to successfully finish the task to convert EDB to PST file format.
