Google released its Chrome web browser today for Macintosh computers which will now compete with the widely used Mac browser, Safari. I think early adoption of Chrome will be slow, just like it was for PC users.Chrome Browser for Mac

The new Chrome for Mac doesn’t come with features such as allowing extension programs or bookmark management. The Macintosh version of Chrome is in beta.

We took a hefty dose of goodness from the Windows version to build a fast, polished browser for Mac,” software engineers John Grabowski and Mike Pinkerton of the Google Chrome team said in a blog post.

I am sure there will be some hesitation from Mac users. There’s one thing for sure, if what you have works and you like it, why change to something else? This will be a challenge for Chrome to pick up some needed market share in the browser space.

What’s Good?

The Chrome browser has been developed from day one to be faster, faster start-up, faster page loading, faster search and handle Java much better than IE and Firefox. Many independent benchmarks agree that Chrome is fast. The Chrome team also focused on security to ensure that beta testers can use the browser safely.
