Celebrities Among The Mainstream on Twitter!

by Frank Jovine on 04/17/2009 in Community, Internet

Twitter has become very popular lately, and now real-life celebrities and super stars are joining in. In recent news, Ashton Kutcher got his 1 millionth follower today, having beaten an account owned by CNN for the milestone. Wednesday, Kutcher blew past third-place Britney Spears and her 950,000+ followers.

Today, Kutcher and Twitter CEO Evan Williams will appear on the Oprah Winfrey show, where Oprah will send her first tweet as @Oprah. As of Friday morning, she had 63,000 followers without sending a single toot. Within weeks, Oprah could be one of Twitter’s top users.

How do we non-celebs, average Joe’s and Mary’s get some follow love?

I read many good articles about getting Twitter followers. There was one article published by Kristi who owns the kikolani blog called Twitter Lingo & Tips For New Twitter & Facebook Users. Kristi explains what directories you can use to increase your followers.

Why not try to reach out to your social network friends and fans to follow you on Twitter? I know we all have many and this could prove to be effective.

Thanks for sharing my article! :) Oprah will more than likely take over Twitter. I remember working at a bookstore – anytime she recommended a book, the book would sell like lightning.

Anytime and I will not be following Oprah, not a fan.
