Nothing beats a partitioned hard drive.Split them in half at least you can get your documents back.Reinstall XP and your good to go.(copy and paste)

Dont forget AVG as a good one. I run it (paid version btw) on my sole windows box and it fails me less frequently than symantec did.

Of course I will also be that troll who says install linux (Ubuntu for newbies, my sister installed it drunk on tequila and even sober its a great learning experience). No viruses and as Frank pointed out…

This type of rogue software, marketed under hundreds of different names, scares users by giving false spyware alarms and then tries to deceive them into paying for removal of non-existent malware.

Follow Frank’s link to safe removal instructions. I have noticed that even sites that offer removal instructions are rogue! For example, http://www.mywot.com/scorecard/spywareremove.com. It seems every direction we turn, someone is trying to scam us. Up-to-date virus protection and WOT browser protection is the answer.
