by Frank Jovine on 07/26/2010 in Scams & Hoaxes, Security

There’s an email purporting to be from Citibank, claims that due to multiple failed login attempts, the account holder must confirm account information or the account will be suspended indefinitely.

This is a phishing website that’s hosted on a local machine with the IP address of 75.63.112.254. The scammers have created a website that looks just like the legitimate Citibank website to fool customers in providing personal information. All information entered into the fake website can be harvested by scammers and used for credit card fraud and identity theft.

This email is not from Citibank or any financial entities related to Citibank.

American express, HSBC, paypal are the most common phishing scams.

If you see a phishing page report it, and submit it to http://phishtank.com. That way kaspersky and others can use the phishing data.

    Website is down :) .

Thank you for some very good information we were unaware of. I would think in a world that has come thus far would have better means to handle these types of bandits.
