CoreGuardAntivirus2009 is a misleading application that gives false reports of threats on the computer. Once a user downloads this application, they’re prompted to purchase the full license in order to remove the false infection.

  1. Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).
  2. Update the virus definitions.
  3. Run a full system scan.
  4. Delete any values added to the registry.

    Now that’s another nasty piece of work!
    Another one is Spyware Cleaner 2009, which is another rogue that installs a rootkit and backdoor trojans, but the worst part? It’s hosted on all of the major download sites as a clean application with no spyware / adware.
    I downloaded it onto a fresh install which was clean and it found enough problems that didn’t exist..another case of users buying malware!

    I wonder if the people releasing this are the same people that were involved in the recent Scareware scams by the Attorney General in Washington State.

    Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone would learn to make money the honest way, with hard work and dedication.
