AVCare is trying to Steal Your Money

AvCare is a misleading application that reports false scan alerts and deceptive advertising to promote itself. AvCare is typically first encountered when visiting web sites that display a pop-up stating that your computer is infected and that you should run an online anti-malware or anti-virus scanner in order to check for infections. The program than tries to fool the user in purchasing the full license to remove the false infection.

Removal
The following instructions pertain to all current and recent Symantec antivirus products, including the Symantec AntiVirus and Norton AntiVirus product lines.

  1. Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).
  2. Update the virus definitions.
  3. Run a full system scan.
  4. Delete any values added to the registry.
