Are You Spyware Free?

by on 01/03/2009 in Security, Virus Removal

We have written and published a couple of articles on fake security products that lure users into believing that these products will remove spyware and malware from their computers, but they do the opposite by installing malicious software to download itself or executes other unwanted actions. The user is shown fake messages such as, “Warning! Your computer is infected with spyware”, followed by a promise that the chargeable version of the tool will remove this non-existing threat. These tools are promoted using hundreds of different names, such as XP Antivirus 2008 and XP Antivirus 2009.

The goal of these criminal software makers is to make people pay for the “full” version of their bogus anti-malware product and to collect financial information that can be used for phishing.

What if I fall victim from these fake products? Is there a way to remove this malicious data? Yes! Spybot – Search & Destroy can detect and remove a multitude of adware files and modules from your computer. Spybot also can clean program and Web-usage tracks from your system, which is especially useful if you share your computer. Modules chosen for removal can be sent directly to the included file shredder, ensuring complete elimination from your system.

Version 1.6 features improved speed for on-demand scans, support for a dozen different browsers, and easier on-access use.

This blog was edited from its original version due to our findings from the original recommendation on how to remove spyware and malware by using a product called SpyHunter which is unsafe. We apologize for our oversight.

This is exactly what my poor old dad fell for. We got it removed by using Malwarebytes’ but Spybot – Search & Destroy was on my list of things to try too.

It’s a hard lesson to learn, and I hope he can get the payment stopped to this bunch of fraudsters and thieves!

    Solution from Search-and-destroy.
If you own a computer, you must have antispyware to keep it running at its best. The problem is choosing a scan that works. I have tried many different types of scans in the past and then I ran across Search-and-destroy Antispyware. I have to say that the antispyware solution from Search-and-destroy is the best that I have used to date. It gets the job done and keeps my computer working like new. If you are interested in seeing for yourself just how good this antispyware works you can click on http://www.Search-and-destroy.com to learn more. I’m sure it would be worth your time to check it out.

In a civil case, a judge can allow the jury to question a document-destroying party’s intentions. For example, judges in certain cases will tell jurors they should assume missing documents are harmful simply because they were destroyed–even if they never see the contents.
